Our School Council
Welcome to our Student Council page.
Here at Seaton St Paul's Junior School we are proud to have a School Council which consists of eight elected representatives from all year groups. This enables every child in school to have the opportunity to share their ideas, interests and issues through their class representative, therefore allowing pupil voice to be at the heart of change in our school.
Our current School Council has just been newly instated, so we are currently in the process of creating these strong links between representatives, staff and pupils. Our aim is to create a collaborative atmosphere whereby all children know their thoughts and ideas matter, but most of all that they can create positive change that will affect themselves and their school too.
Becoming part of our school council gives children the chance to develop their leadership skills. Each year we teach the children about democracy (one of the four British Values) and then complete class votes to choose our councillors. This is a fun process, which helps the children to understand the way that Britain is led and gives them an opportunity to complete a verbal presentation to their peers explaining why they think they would be good at the job.
Take a look at our School Council and our achievements so far:
